Aamir Khan Confirms Sitaare Zameen Par Will ONLY Release In Theatres, Film To Skip OTT Release

Three years after Laal Singh Chaddha, Aamir Khan is looking forward to the release of his new project, Sitaare Zameen Par. Directed by RS Prasanna, the sports drama has been scheduled for a theatrical release on June 20, 2025. Ahead of that, Aamir has confirmed that Sitaare Zameen Par will exclusively release only in theatres. It was earlier reported that the actor might opt for a pay-per-view model on YouTube for his film. But there's no truth to it!

In an interview with News18, Aamir shared his thoughts about how the fast-shift to OTT has affected theatrical business of films. In his opinion, releasing films on streaming shortly after theatrical ones takes away the cinematic experience. Aamir added that good movies deserve to be watched on the big screen.

The actor also confirmed that he made a conscious decision to release Sitaare Zameen Par exclusively in cinemas. "I believe in theatres. I believe in my audience. If you make a good film, people will come to watch it on the big screen," he said.

Reflecting on the rise of early OTT release trend, Aamir added, "I don’t know any business where you offer your product, and if someone doesn’t buy it, you tell them—don’t worry, I’ll drop it at your house for free in eight weeks. It doesn’t make sense to me. That’s the reason many films aren’t doing well in theatres."

Bankrolled by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Genelia Deshmukh and 10 new debutants. Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar are an integral part of this sports drama.
