Did you know that Baba Sehgal made his acting debut in the action thriller Miss 420 (1998), directed by Akashdeep Sabir? The singer, who burst onto the Indipop scene with Thanda Thanda Pani in the early 1990s, actually shot for the film in 1994, but the film's release was delayed until 1998. In a new interview, Baba talks about his experiences making the feature, especially the songs, such as Aaja Meri Gaadi Me Baith Ja. Here's what he had to say!

Speaking with Siddharth Kannan for his YouTube channel, Baba recalled that he was summoned in for a meeting about a film role by Sridevi's secretary, Hari Singh, who used to be part of Venus. He stated, "I was hungry for work; I still am. They said they wanted a hero. I said, Chalo, hero bante hai. Pehle paise ki baat karo. Banner chhodo, paise ki baat karo [First let's talk about the money. Forget about the banner, we need to talk money first]."
He was ready to say to the film company and stand by his terms. But luckily, he said, "Venus Company agreed to all the terms; [they] beautifully agreed. Mera pura khandan [my whole family], house help used to go, and they used to take very good care."

Making Miss 420

Venus wanted to back Baba Sehgal as a real hero. The singer remembered the feature took their time to focus on the song. He said, "This was like a party for me. One song used to be shot in 15-20 days; Aaja Meri Gadi Mein Baithja was shot over a month. Chinni Prakash was the choreographer. He had 100 dancers behind him. One was being shot in Bandra, one in Goa. That was a lavish production these guys had. Hats off to them."
The only downer was that the film took a long time to be released. He joked that when he completed the film, he wasn't married, but by the time Miss 420 was released, he had a son. The songs were released long before the release of the film.
