It was an emotional high for Virat Kohli, who was seen tearing up even before the match ended. RCB’s victory also marked the first time in years that a new team joined the list of champions. However, the joy didn’t last long. Tragedy struck during the celebrations at Bengaluru’s M Chinnaswamy Stadium when a stampede outside the venue claimed 11 lives. Following Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli, Kamal Haasan and Vivek Oberoi also shared their grief over the heartbreaking incident.

Celebs react to Bengaluru stampede

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the Thug Life actor wrote, "Heart-wrenching tragedy in Bangalore. Deeply distressed and my heart reaches out to the families of the victims in this moment of grief. May the injured recover soon."
Grieving the lives lost in the heartbreaking incident, Vivek Oberoi shared his condolences and wrote, " It's truly saddening to lose loved ones, especially during what should have been a moment of collective joy in cricket. To the families and friends now facing this unimaginable void, our hearts ache with yours. We send our deepest condolences and heartfelt support, hoping you find some solace amidst this profound grief. May strength and peace be with you."

RCB's official statement

Soon after learning the news of the incident, RCB issued an official statement, which reads, "We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us."
“RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families. Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed the guidance and advice of the local administration. We urge all our supporters to please stay safe," the statement added.
As per the reports, at least 11 people lost their lives and around 50 were injured in a stampede outside Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium, where a massive crowd had gathered to welcome the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) after their IPL victory.
