Partho Ghosh passes away

Mourning the demise of the director, Rituparna wrote, "Heartbroken beyond words. We have lost an exceptional talent, a visionary director, and a kind soul. Partho da, you will always be remembered for the magic you created on screen. Rest in peace"
For the unversed, Partho Ghosh started his journey in the film industry in 1985 as an assistant director. Gradually, he worked his way up and made his mark in Bollywood. His big breakthrough came in 1991 with the 100 Days starring Madhuri Dixit and Jackie Shroff. The film was a remake of the Tamil classic Nooravathu Naal, which itself was adapted from an Italian story.
Following that success, he directed Geet (1992) featuring Divya Bharti and Avinash Wadhawan. However, it was his 1993 film Dalaal, starring Mithun Chakraborty, that established him as a commercially successful filmmaker. The movie was one of the year’s top earners.
In 1996, Ghosh delivered another major hit with Agni Sakshi, a psychological drama that starred Nana Patekar, Jackie Shroff, and Manisha Koirala. The film was both a critical and commercial success.

His notable works also include Tisra Kaun, the Hindi adaptation of the Malayalam hit No. 20 Madras Mail, and Ek Second… Jo Zindagi Badal De? (2010), a film that explores the unpredictability of life and the power of a single moment.
His final directorial venture was the 2018 romantic drama Mausam Ikrar Ke Do Pal Pyaar Ke, which featured Mukesh J Bharti, Madalsa Sharma, and Avinash Wadhawan. The film marked his return to filmmaking after a brief hiatus.
