'She Came Crying At 1 AM': UP Dhaba Owner On Seeing Sonam Raghuvanshi Before Police Arrived

Sonam Raghuvanshi, accused of orchestrating the murder of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, was found alone and in tears at a dhaba before her arrest, according to an eyewitness. Sahil Yadav, who runs the roadside eatery, said Sonam arrived late at night and appeared visibly distressed.

"At around 1 am, she came to the dhaba crying and said she needed to call home. I gave her my phone, and she made the call. After that, I asked her to sit and informed the police. They soon arrived and took her away," Yadav stated.

Following her detention, Sonam was taken to a hospital for preliminary treatment and then shifted to a one-stop centre in Ghazipur for her safety. On Monday morning, a circle officer visited the centre to question her, but she reportedly remained silent. Officials confirmed that Sonam would be handed over to Meghalaya Police upon their arrival in Ghazipur.

The case dates back to May 23, when the couple from Indore went missing in Meghalaya. Days later, Raja Raghuvanshi's body was recovered from a gorge near Cherrapunji, prompting a widespread investigation.

Seven men were arrested in connection with the case and stated that Sonam allegedly hired the group to murder her husband.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma acknowledged the swift progress, saying, "Within 7 days, a major breakthrough has been achieved in the Raja murder case. Three assailants from Madhya Pradesh have been arrested, the female has surrendered, and the operation is still ongoing to nab one more accused. Well done Meghalaya Police."

According to Meghalaya DGP I Nongrang, Sonam's involvement in planning the murder is under close investigation.
