Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray on Monday addressed the ongoing speculations of his reunion with estranged cousin Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray. This comes ahead of the ensuing civic body polls and poor show by the MNS and Shiv Sena (UBT) in the 2024 assembly elections.
Amid intense speculation over the possibility of an alliance between the two parties, led by Thackeray cousins, Raj Thackeray said that other questions are more important. "Raj Thackeray-Uddhav Thackeray to form alliance? Rather, the questions should be on the migration of people to Mumbai. What is the condition of the people living in the cities and the state? These questions are more important," Raj Thackeray was quoted as saying by ANI.
Earlier, Uddhav Thackeray had dropped a major hint regarding a possible reunion with Raj Thackeray. The former chief minister insisted said that there is no confusion in the minds of workers of both parties about an alliance.
Talking to reporters, Uddhav Thackeray said, "Whatever people of Maharashtra wish will happen."
Interestingly, Shiv Sena (UBT) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut, a close aide of the former CM, suggested there may have been phone calls between the two cousins who share a cold relationship. He, however, did not elaborate further, PTI reported.
When asked about a possible alliance between Raj Thackeray and Uddhav Thackeray, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said that he doesn't not want to invite “trouble” by commenting on the speculation.
“They are brothers (Thackerays) as well as uncle and nephew (Pawars). If they decide among themselves, then fine. You (media) are speculating. I don’t even know if they are communicating with one another, but you have already grown impatient. I don’t want to invite trouble by commenting on both families,” said Fadnavis.
