Mumbai News: A 60-year-old man in Mumbai’s Worli area allegedly shot his wife dead before turning the gun on himself, police said. The incident, which took place early Sunday morning, triggered panic in the neighbourhood.
Police identified the deceased as Rajmanohar Nampally and his 53-year-old wife, Lata. According to officials, the shooting happened around 6 am in a residential building in Siddharth Nagar, central Mumbai. The couple lived with their son and daughter-in-law in a shared flat.
In a preliminary investigation, Nampally had been in conflict with his son, who wanted to move out and live separately with his wife. Tensions in the household reportedly escalated, with frequent arguments, often fuelled by alcohol. On Saturday evening, the father and son had another heated altercation, during which Lata sided with her son.
This upset Nampally who allegedly retrieved a country-made pistol the next morning, shot his wife, and then shot himself. The son and daughter-in-law woke up by the gunfire, immediately alerted the police.
A case has been registered under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and a post-mortem examination has been conducted. Further investigation is underway.
