Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their much-awaited first-ever IPL trophy after 18 years, when they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the 2025 final. They thus planned to celebrate this monumental victory in the presence of their fans in Bengaluru on Wednesday (June 4), the day after the final. Their celebrations, however, turned sour, when a stampede near Gate 2 of the Chinnaswamy Stadium took the lives of 11 fans and injured many. The RCB players have also started reacting towards the untoward incident. After Virat Kohli, Ab de Villiers, too reacted to this.
Sharing the official RCB statement in response to the stampede on his X account, AB de Villiers said that his thoughts and prayers were with the people who were affected by the stampede.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by the tragic events at the Chinnaswamy stadium today,” de Villiers wrote.

"We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us.RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families.
Immediately upon being made aware of the situation, we promptly amended our program, and followed, the guidance and advice of the local administration.We urge all our supporters to please stay safe," said RCB in a statement.
Virat Kohli Reacts To Bengaluru Stampede
Virat Kohli, the superstar icon of RCB, expressed his sadness at the loss of lives due to the stampede. He shared RCB's official statement on his social media profiles, with an emotional one line caption.
"At a loss for words. Absolutely gutted," Kohli wrote.
