Rajat Patidar's unseen gesture of respect towards Virat Kohli post the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) final went viral on social media as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted the trophy for the first time in history after beating Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the summit clash on Tuesday (June 3) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Patidar, who was appointed RCB captain ahead of the 2025 season, became the franchise's first title-winning captain. Meanwhile, Kohli won the title for the first time in his career. The RCB legend is the league's highest run-getter in history and the only player to play all 18 seasons for the same franchise.
While Patidar etched his name in the history books by becoming an IPL-winning captain, the RCB skipper earned praise from cricket fans for letting Kohli take centre stage and enjoy the moment after years of toiling hard to win the trophy.
A new clip has emerged from the celebrations that shows Patidar going towards Kohli and urging him to come forward and sign the camera. For those unversed, over the last few years, it has become a tradition for the title-winning captain to sign the camera post the final. In RCB's case, their captain asked the franchise's longest-serving player to carry out the task.

Kohli was the star of the campaign for RCB as he finished as the highest run-getter with 657 runs in 15 innings at an average of 54.75 with a strike-rate of 144.71. He scored eight half-centuries and all of them came in a winning cause.
Patidar became just the fourth captain in IPL history to win the title in his debut season after Shane Warne, Rohit Sharma, and Hardik Pandya.
Previously, some of the greatest cricketers in history have led the franchise, including Kohli as well as RAhul Dravid, Anil Kumble, Kevin Pietersen, Daniel Vettori, and Faf du Plessis but failed to lift the trophy.
