Spanish superstar Carlos Alcaraz defeated Italian player Jannik Sinner in the final match that redefined why he is considered the future great by many, after staging an astonishing comeback that made the French Open Final 2025 a nail-biting thriller. After Italian player Jannik Sinner won the first two sets he showcased remarkable grit to claim the third set. Sinner won the first one 6-4 and then clinched the second set in a tense tie-break, 7-4, taking a commanding two-sets-to-love lead over Carlos. However, Alcaraz made a comeback that had everyone on their toes. He won the third set 6-4 and the fourth one in a tie-break, 7-3.
The final set once again went into the tie-breaker and Alcaraz won it 10-2. The Spaniard got overwhelmed by emotions and tears and lay down on the ground after an epic battle. He later went to the stands among his loved ones to celebrate the victory.
After the game, Alcaraz gave a moving tribute to Sinner, who had just returned from a three-month doping suspension at the Italian Open in May—the competition that comes right before Roland Garros. In his laudatory remarks, Alcaraz praised Sinner's skill as a tennis player and said he was honored to have shared historic moments on the court with him.
In a marathon encounter that lasted five hours and twenty-nine minutes, the two players participated in the longest French Open final ever.
“I want to start with Jannik. It is amazing the level you have. Congratulations on an amazing two weeks—an amazing tournament. To you and your team, I know the hard work you’re putting in every day. It’s huge. Honestly, I know how hard you’re chasing this tournament and every tournament. I’m pretty sure you’ll be champion not once, but many, many times. It’s a privilege to share the court with you in every tournament. Making history with you—I’m just really happy to be able to do that, here and in other tournaments. You’re a huge inspiration for young kids, for everyone, and for myself,” Alcaraz said after the match.
