From Thailand To India: Agoda’s 2025 Report Shows Where Europeans Are Headed In Asia
As European travellers gear up for their much-anticipated summer holidays, digital travel platform Agoda has unveiled its ‘Europe to Asia Summer Travel Trends’ report, and the results show a strong and growing appetite for Asian adventures. For the second year in a row, Thailand tops the charts as the most searched Asian destination by European travellers, followed closely by Indonesia, Japan, and Malaysia. Notably, Vietnam makes a debut in the top five this year, which shows its rising status among global travellers.
But it’s not just Southeast Asia basking in the spotlight. India is also seeing a noticeable surge in interest. According to Agoda, the United Kingdom and the Netherlands are among the top source markets searching for accommodation in India, signalling a broader shift in European travel trends.

The insights are based on accommodation searches for July and August 2025, Europe’s peak summer travel months. Malaysia stood out as the fastest climber in popularity, with a 20% year-on-year increase in searches. China, benefiting from visa waivers for several European countries, recorded a 14% rise, while Sri Lanka experienced a 13% boost in interest.
Traditional powerhouses like the UK, France, Germany, Spain, and the Netherlands remain the largest European markets searching for Asian escapes. However, emerging enthusiasm from Greece (+23%), Turkey (+21%), and Poland (+17%) points to a wider continental curiosity for Asia.
When it comes to India, Mumbai, New Delhi NCR, and Goa are the top three Indian cities capturing the attention of European travellers. Unsurprisingly, the UK remains the leading origin market, followed by the Netherlands, France, Germany, and Italy, reaffirming India’s growing appeal as a summer destination for culture-rich, affordable, and experience-driven holidays.
