Dr Pepper Recall Key Product Details Affected States And Next Steps For Consumers
The US Food & Drug Administration (FDA) issued a voluntary recall of tens of thousands of cases of Dr Pepper Zero Sugar because of mislabeling. The affected products, labeled as “zero sugar,” were found to contain regular full sugar, posing a risk for diabetics and others who must avoid sugar.
The recall involves 19,203 cases of 12-pack and 24-pack cartons of 12-ounce cans of Dr Pepper Zero Sugar. For context, a standard 12-ounce can of regular Dr Pepper contains 39 grams of sugar.
On June 5, the FDA upgraded the recall to a Class II classification, indicating that the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” and that serious health consequences are unlikely.

The FDA advises that recalled products can often be returned to the store where they were purchased. If that’s not an option, you can safely dispose of the cans. Alternatively, since these cans actually contain regular Dr Pepper with full sugar, they may be consumed by anyone in your household who can safely consume sugary soda.
