A prototype of the next-generation Mahindra Bolero has been spotted undergoing road tests in India, offering a first look at the SUV’s bold new design and platform. The model is expected to be officially revealed in concept form on August 15, 2025, marking a major step in Mahindra’s strategy to modernise one of its most iconic vehicles.
The latest test mule suggests a significant design overhaul while retaining the rugged character that has made the Bolero a bestseller in rural and semi-urban markets. Drawing styling cues from international SUVs like the Land Rover Defender, the upcoming Bolero features a boxy silhouette, flat roof, and squared-off wheel arches. A centrally mounted spare wheel on the upright tailgate further hints at its off-road DNA.
Up front, the vehicle sports Mahindra’s signature grille flanked by round headlamps. Other notable upgrades include flush-fitting door handles, revamped outside rear-view mirrors (ORVMs), and larger dual-tone alloy wheels, highlighting a push toward a more premium, urban-friendly appeal.
Underpinning the new Bolero is Mahindra’s New Flexible Architecture (NFA), a next-gen platform engineered to support a wide range of powertrains, including electric, hybrid, and conventional internal combustion engines. This move aligns with Mahindra’s broader plan to future-proof its lineup amid tightening emissions regulations and shifting buyer preferences.
As road trials continue, more information on the SUV’s powertrain options and features is expected to surface in the coming months. The updated Bolero aims to strike a balance between tradition and modernity, keeping its core rugged appeal while embracing new-age design and technology.
