The makers of the upcoming survival drama The Lost Bus have just dropped an intriguing teaser for their upcoming survival drama featuring Matthew McConaughey. As California continues to recover from the devastation caused by wildfires earlier this year, Apple TV brings a harrowing true story from the past back into the spotlight. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker Paul Greengrass, the film centres on the 2018 Camp Fire, widely known as the deadliest wildfire in California’s history, and tells a powerful story of bravery, resilience, and survival.
Apple TV dropped the teaser on their official YouTube channel, and it was released ahead of its fall debut in select theatres and on Apple TV+. In the teaser, we see Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey take on the role of Kevin McCay, a humble school bus driver who becomes an unlikely hero. As flames engulf the town of Paradise, McCay must navigate treacherous conditions to save 23 schoolchildren and their teacher, Mary Ludwig, portrayed by America Ferrera. With the fire closing in and escape routes vanishing, their journey becomes a desperate fight for survival. In the teaser, McCay is seen hellbent on saving the lives of kids and their teacher.

About The Lost Bus
The Lost Bus also features performances by Yul Vazquez, Ashlie Atkinson, and Spencer Watson, adding depth to this emotionally charged ensemble drama. The screenplay was co-written by Paul Greengrass and Brad Ingelsby, known for his work on Mare of Easttown.
The film draws its inspiration from real-life events chronicled in Lizzie Johnson’s 2021 nonfiction book Paradise: One Town’s Struggle to Survive an American Wildfire. The Camp Fire, which began in Butte County in November 2018, destroyed thousands of homes, claimed 86 lives, and scorched over 150,000 acres, leaving an indelible mark on the community.

As reported by Deadline, the movie's director described the film as “the story of quiet heroism, of people coming together in the face of the unthinkable,” adding, “I’m honoured to have been entrusted with this story.”
The film is produced by Brad Ingelsby, Gregory Goodman, Jason Blum for Blumhouse Productions, and Jamie Lee Curtis under her Comet Pictures banner. Lizzie Johnson, whose reporting inspired the project, serves as an executive producer.
