SHIKHAR DHAWAN

A man made for the big stage, Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most consistent opening batters that India have had in white-ball cricket. Dhawan made his ODI debut in 2011 and T20I debut in 2010. Though it took him some time to establish himself in the Indian team, the southpaw has since gone on to become one of the pillars for the Men in Blue.

Dhawan's record in ICC events remains the most exceptional of all. He has scored over 1200 runs in 20 ICC tournament matches at an average of 65.15. His career average in ODIs and T20Is is quite below. Dhawan has a total of 14 ODI hundreds to his name and 35 fifties. In T20 cricket, he has scored 11 half-centuries but is yet to record a hundred.

In IPL

With two hundreds and 44 half-centuries to his name, Shikhar Dhawan is one of the most prolific run-scorers in the history of IPL. Dhawan first bagged an IPL deal in 2008 and has been featured in every season. Having started his career with home side Delhi Daredevils (now Delhi Capitals), Dhawan has played for Mumbai Indians, Deccan Chargers, Sunrisers Hyderabad and will now be playing for Punjab Kings.

In terms of the top-scoring players in the league, Dhawan is only behind Virat Kohli. In fact, the most decorated player in the league, Rohit Sharma, is behind Dhawan in the list. Even at the age of 36, the opening batter managed to fetch a price of INR 5.2 crore in the IPL 2022 auction.
