US Vice President JD Vance has broken his silence on the escalating feud between Donald Trump and Elon Musk, making his loyalties clear. In his first candid remarks on the matter, Vance praised Musk as an "incredible entrepreneur" on a recent podcast, but said that it was a "huge mistake" on the part of the tech billionaire to go after the US President in the way he had.
Speaking on the Theo Von podcast, Vance said, "I'm the Vice President to President Trump, my loyalties are always going to be with him. Elon is an incredible entrepreneur, DOGE was really good. I will always be loyal to the President and I hope that eventually Elon kind of comes back into the fold. Maybe that's not possible now because he's gone so nuclear."
Vance stated that while he understands Musk's "frustrations," given how new he was to politics, going after the President had been a "bad" move on his part.
"Elon is new to politics, his businesses were being attacked. Some of them were acts of terrorism (Tesla protests). This guy got into politics and suffered a lot for it. I get the frustration (regarding the bill). But I think it's a huge mistake for him to go after the President like that. If he and the President are in a blood feud, it's going to be bad for the country and I don't think it's going to be good for Elon either," he added.
Vance also weighed in on Musk's controversial post on X where he claimed Donald Trump was in the Epstein Files. "First of all, absolutely not. Donald Trump didn't do anything wrong with Jeffrey Epstein. That's totally bs," he remarked. Interestingly, Musk has since deleted his Epstein allegation from the social media platform.

Trump Vs Elon Musk

The feud began when Musk criticised Trump's "Big Beautiful Bill," which is a major tax and spending plan, calling it "disgusting" and blaming it for increasing the federal deficit. Trump then accused Musk of going against him because of proposed cuts to electric vehicle subsidies. Musk denied the claim.
He also endorsed a message from right-wing commentator Ian Miles Cheong demanding the US president's impeachment that read, "President vs Elon. Who wins? My money's on Elon. Trump should be impeached and JD Vance should replace him." Musk replied to the post, writing, "Yes."
After the very bitter fallout, Donald Trump, in a series of media appearances, made it clear he has no intention of speaking to Elon Musk anytime soon. "I'm not even thinking about Elon. He’s got a problem. The poor guy's got a problem," Donald Trump told CNN. In a separate interview with ABC News, the US President was even more blunt, calling Elon Musk "a man who has lost his mind."
