Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway Tolls: In a significant development for Maharashtra’s road network, the final stretch of the Nagpur-Mumbai Samruddhi Mahamarg is now operational, offering a seamless high-speed drive between the two cities. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis inaugurated the last leg of the six-lane expressway, making the entire 701 km route accessible for commuters.

Travel time cut, congestion eased

Known officially as the Hindu Hrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Maharashtra Samruddhi Mahamarg, the expressway is set to slash travel time significantly. The stretch between Thane and Igatpuri, which earlier took over an hour, can now be covered in just 40 minutes. With all phases complete, planning a road trip between Nagpur and Mumbai has become far more efficient, with less dependency on traffic-clogged highways.

Speed limits and toll details

Motorists can legally cruise at 120 km/h in cars, while trucks and buses have a speed cap of 80 km/h. The expressway is dotted with 26 toll booths, and the one-way toll charges are as follows:
    Cars/Jeep (LMV): Rs 1,212
  • Light Commercial Vehicles: Rs 1,955
  • Two-Axle Trucks/Buses: Rs 4,100
  • Three-Axle Vehicles: Rs 4,472
  • Heavy Construction Machinery: Rs 6,435
  • Oversized Vehicles (7+ axles): Rs 7,830
  • Tolls can be paid using Fastag, cash or card, offering flexibility for drivers.

EV users benefit from toll exemption

While EV charging stations are still being set up along the expressway, the Maharashtra Government’s EV Policy comes with a welcome incentive: electric vehicles and e-buses are exempt from toll charges for the next five years on this route. This could help promote greener transport and reduce the carbon footprint of road travel.

Food, fuel, and emergency care en route

Beyond just speed and convenience, the expressway also focuses on traveller comfort and safety. The route features over 20 food hubs, fuel stations, EV charging points (under development), and trauma centres. These additions are aimed at creating a safe and accessible travel experience for all, including those embarking on long-haul journeys.
With this mega project now fully functional, Maharashtra’s ambition for faster, safer and greener mobility takes a major leap forward.
