The St. Louis Shock staged a stunning comeback on Friday, bouncing back from Thursday’s defeat to claim a double victory over Utah Black Diamonds and Carolina Hogs.
In their first match of the day, the Shock showed their mettle by winning seven of the eight games played, with the only defeat coming from Kate Fahey and Gabe Tardio, who lost to Tammy Emmrich and Ben Johns of Carolina.
Thereafter, Anna Bright and Hayden Patriquin powered their way past Kaitlyn Christian and Collin Johns to secure a 3-1 victory over Carolina Hogs. The day’s action came to a close on the Toray Championship Court, leaving fans impressed by the Shock’s tenacity and hunger to win.
Reflecting on the day’s performance, Anna Bright highlighted the team’s response to adversity. “There are a few teams with a big target on their backs, and it’s an honor to be one of those, but we have to expect every team’s best and still come out hungry every match, even though we are typically going to be pretty favored,” Bright explained. “That was the main adjustment, just coming out today really ready to go and really hungry. I think that’s definitely easy to do after a loss.”
The Shock’s impressive display will make them confident ahead of their upcoming matches. They will be back on court on Saturday to face Chicago Slice and SoCal Hard Eights, aiming to build on their success and further strengthen their standing.
St. Louis Shock are currently standing at the second spot with 30 points from 10 wins. Dallas Flash remain at top of the standings with 40 points from 14 wins.
