The last leg of IPL 2025 will resume with Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) taking on Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 58th match of the season at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday (May 17). Some of the teams have been hit by pullouts from the overseas players. RCB don't have to worry much about it.
Delhi Capitals (DC) is among the teams which have been hit by it and their star player Mitchell Starc will not return to the IPL. The Times of India has reported that Starc will miss the last league of IPL and he has already had a word with the franchise.
With 14 wickets from 11 matches, Starc is DC's highest wicket-taker. He has a five-fer to his name in the ongoing season. His absence is probably the reason why DC recently signed Mustafizur Rahman. However, his availability is also uncertain.
DC need wins at this stage of the tournament and they can also crash out if they lose a couple of matches. The first team to reach 10 points in IPL 2025, DC only have 13 points now and they are reeling at the fifth spot in the points table. DC have 6 wins and 4 defeats from 11 matches.
Gujarat Titans (GT) acquire the numero uno position in the table. The Shubman Gill-led side has 8 wins from 11 matches. GT Have 16 points in their account at an NRR of +0.793. They are followed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, respectively.
Players who will miss last leg of IPL
Jofra Archer will not return for Rajasthan Royals due to an injury. Mumbai Indians' (MI) Will Jacks and GT's Jos Buttler will return home after the end of the league stage. MI have roped in Jonny Bairstow while Kusal Mendis will join GT. South Africa's WTC final-bound players will return home by May 27, which is the last day of the league stage.
