John Cena successfully defended his Undisputed WWE Championship in his first title defence against Randy Orton in the main event of WWE Backlash. The 17-time world champion cheated to win and hit Orton with the championship before completing the pin. R-Truth played an important role in the win and prevented Cena from Orton.
Truth would even take an RKO from the 14-time world champion. But Cena didn't care much about him and hit him with an AA on the table at the press conference.
Truth, who calls Cena his childhood hero, could now get a title opportunity. Cena is set to be at the Saturday Night's Main Event on May 24. WWE hasn't booked Cena for any weekly show before the SNME.
Cena kicked off the storyline with Truth by attacking him and now it looks like he will defend his title against the former United States Champion. Cena is also advertised for Money in the Bank 2025.
The match between Cena and Truth, if it happens, is unlikely to be the main event. Jey Uso will put his World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Logan Paul and this match is highly likely to close the show.
Like Cena, Jey also won the title at Wrestlemania 41. Logan defeated AJ Styles in a one-on-one match on Wrestlemania Sunday.
When will John Cena retire?
John Cena will end his in-ring career in December 2025. Cody Rhodes could become the last superstar to face Cena. The American Nightmare is still the face of WWE and he could defeat Cena in his last match to win the title.
Cody has been absent from WWE TV since Wrestlemania. He is set to make his WWE return soon. He is advertised for Money in the Bank 2025 along with some top superstars. Cody could be part of the Money in the Bank ladder match.
