Directed by Chandan Arora, it stars Mohit Raina and Roshan Mathew as estranged brothers who reunite after 14 years apart. Mohit, who plays the older brother Max, talked about his role in the twisted family saga, filming in Goa, and if the show could return for another season.

Even though KanKhajura is an official adaptation, the actor stayed away from the original series. In an interview with Zoom, Mohit revealed he based his character Max Gaonkar on the director and writers' inputs. He shared, "I've been a fan of [director] Chandan Arora. I really loved Main, Meri Patni Aur Woh. It was one of my favorite movies back then. I sat with him because he was part of the writing game as well. I understood what he was thinking. I tried to see the layers that Max has. I had a certain boundary or certain characteristics of Max in my head before I went on shoot. But then, obviously, with the help of the director and the co-stars, a lot of things change."
The actor went on to share that he wasn't sure if audiences would relate to Max, but people have liked seeing another side to him as an actor. In the series, Roshan Mathew plays his younger brother Ashu, who returns to society after a 14-year stint in prison. After his return, Max's life falls apart. Mohit said the two only met once before the shoot began.
He explained, "Roshan and me, we met for the first time in the JAR Pictures' office. And after that, we thought there was no need to meet. There were primarily two reasons. One, the main reason was because our characters meet after 15 years. So a lot has changed in 15 years. So I didn't know how he's going to play Ashu. And he also didn't want to know how I play Max. So the surprise element was very surprising for both of us."
