Mumbai Train Accident: 5 Die As Passengers Fall On Tracks Due To Overcrowding At Mumbra Station - VIDEO

Mumbai Train News: Mumbai Local Train: Five commuters died after falling off an overcrowded local train during peak hours on Monday morning. The incident took place between Diva and Kopar stations on the Central Railway line, sending shockwaves through the city’s daily train commuters.
According to initial reports, 10 to 12 passengers fell off a local train heading towards Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The train was severely overcrowded, and many passengers were hanging onto the doors when the mishap occurred. The victims were recovered from the tracks and rushed to Kalwa hospital, where five were declared dead on arrival. All of them were reportedly between 30 and 35 years of age. Efforts to identify the deceased are currently underway.

Few hours after the tragedy, the railway board announced that all new rakes being manufactured for Mumbai’s suburban rail network will come equipped with automatic door-closing systems. The board also confirmed that rakes currently in service will be retrofitted with the same safety feature.
